Dr Martin Hanna is a Consultant Paediatrician in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust where he is part of a multidisciplinary paediatric allergy service. He regularly cares for children with a wide range of allergic conditions including food allergy, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, antibiotic allergy and eczema
Dr Hanna has extensive experience in assessing children with suspected allergic disease. He places particular emphasis on careful history taking, appropriate allergy testing and developing personalised management plans tailored to each child and family's individual needs.
He graduated from Queen's University Belfast in 2012 and began specialist paediatric training in 2016. During his training he developed a strong interest in paediatric allergy and completed a Master's degree in Allergy at the University of Southampton. On completion of his consultant training in 2023 his additional expertise was recognised by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health with the award of Special Interest in Allergy accreditation.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Hanna is actively involved in developing allergy services in Northern Ireland. He contributes to several regional and national allergy networks including the National Allergy Strategy Group and the Northern Ireland Paediatric Respiratory and Allergy Network.
Dr Hanna is committed to providing clear, evidence-based advice in a welcoming and supportive environment. He aims to help families understand their child's allergy, make informed decisions about treatment and everyday management, and feel confident in managing their condition while avoiding unnecessary dietary restrictions or anxiety.
