I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the NHS for nine years at Craigavon Area Hospital, specialising in the management of all aspects of foot and ankle problems and trauma.
I enjoy all facets of foot and ankle surgery: from treating patients with forefoot pain caused by arthritis and bunions, to managing flatfeet or high arches, or treating people with arthritic feet and ankles, and more conditions in addition to these. I enjoy the different options patients have for their surgery: including arthroscopic (key hole) surgery or minimally invasive surgery. I enjoy helping patients improve their quality of life.
During my specialist training I focused on the management of Foot and ankle trauma and limb reconstruction under the guidance of a Past President of British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, BOFAS. I was awarded the Aesculap travelling fellowship and completed a fellowship at the internationally renowned Foot and Ankle fellowship in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals - under the mentorship of a further two past presidents of BOFAS.
I have always enjoyed research and teaching, and I am a member of the Trauma & Orthopaedic training committee for Northern Ireland. I have also recently held the role of Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery in the Southern Trust.
