Ms. Ciara McGoldrick is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Belfast Trust, where she operates primarily out of Belfast City Hospital. Specialising in breast cancer treatment, she is highly skilled in breast reconstruction procedures. In addition to her NHS role, she maintains a private practice at the Ulster Independent Clinic.
Ms. McGoldrick's professional journey includes extensive training in Northern Ireland, as well as research experience in Canada. She has furthered her expertise through years of sub-specialty training at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Marsden Hospital and St Andrew's Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery in Essex.
Her primary area of focus is breast reconstruction, with a particular specialisation in free flap techniques. This includes DIEP flap reconstruction, which uses fat from the lower abdomen to reconstruct the breast, a procedure that can be performed either during the initial cancer surgery or at a later date. Ms. McGoldrick is also experienced in abdominal wall, vaginal, and perineal reconstruction, working closely with her surgical team at Belfast City Hospital to provide comprehensive care.
Currently, she holds the position of Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Oncoplastic Breast and Reconstructive Microsurgeon. Her qualifications include an MB BAO BCh from Queens University Belfast and an MSc in Trauma Surgery from Swansea University. Her additional training comprises a JCST National Oncoplastic Fellowship at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, and a Microsurgical Fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Ms. McGoldrick is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in Plastic Surgery and is an active member of both the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery.
