Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is essential to the care of many patients. It is an effective diagnostic tool widely used in many medical disciplines from orthopaedics to gynaecology. MR Images show soft tissue in great detail so even small tears in muscle can be illustrated.
The MRI Scanner is a welcome addition to the clinic's already comprehensive diagnostic imaging department which consists of ultrasound, x-ray, mammography, CT and angiography.
The new service is a cumulation of months of hard work on the part of the clinic and MRI Ireland, who provide the scanner.
The service has been greeted with enthusiasm by patients at the clinic who will no longer have to travel to other centers to receive their MRI scans. It is also a major development for patients in the greater Belfast area and the province as a whole as access to the scanner is extended to anyone referred by a GP, Hospital Consultant, Chiropractor or Physiotherapist anywhere in Northern Ireland.
